ADULT SAILING PROGRAM
The Adult Sailing programs are designed to suit diverse skill levels. Our goal is to promote good seamanship and a love for the sport of sailing. GHYC offers private lessons 7-days a week for beginners and intermediates alike. GHYC racing members participate in the Saturday One Design Races on club-owned Rhodes 19s. Racing lessons are available on Saturdays with instructors onboard for the race. Private lessons are usually taught in Rhodes 19s, but members can choose Lasers, Sunfish, 420s and Beetle Cats if they prefer.
Kayaks are also available for use 7 days-a-week
(two doubles and two singles).
There are loads of opportunities for boaters at all levels to participate in on-the-water activities. Choose from any of the options listed and enjoy our beautiful harbor this summer.

2010 PROGRAMS
Shakedown Week
June 28 - July 2, M-F, 9:00 - 11:30
This class will be taught on Rhodes 19's for novice sailors and those who have taken lessons before but need a refresher. This "camp for adults" gives adults the opportunity to learn the basics of rigging and sailing a Rhodes 19 with the intention of becoming proficient enough to go sailing on their own. Sailors will rotate into every position on the boat, from helming, to main sail trim, to jib trim. Sailors will also learn how to leave and approach a mooring under sail.
Women's Sailing Clinic
June 29 - Aug 24
(w/special all-island clinic August 10 during Race Week.)
Women of all ages and skill levels are welcome to our most popular clinic. Sailors of varying skill levels are onboard Rhodes 19s with at least one experienced skipper per boat. The clinic provides an opportunity to get out on the water and go for a fun sail and then enjoy a sun-downer back at the club. Clinic limited to 18 sailors/week. New this year, in order to accommodate the large wait list for this clinic, sailors can only preregister for a total of 6 out of 10 clinic dates. Sailors can be placed on the waitlist for a total of 10 clinic dates. Those interested in attending all 10 - pick 6 clinic dates (X) then 4 waitlist dates (W).
Jobson Race Series
July 1- Aug 26, Every Thursday, 4:30 - 6:30
These informal races are a great way for GHYC members to get out on the water and brush up on their racing skills. They attract sailors at all levels, from racers practicing for the Saturday One Design Series to beginner racers/crew who have never raced before. We pair beginner racers/crew with experienced skippers to introduce newcomers to the world of racing. Plenty of instructors are on hand to run races and crew onboard sailboats.
Saturday Race Lesson
Every Saturday, 11:00 - 4:00
If you've never raced before and would like to try or just need some back up skill, racing lessons provide valuable real-life racing experience in a controlled environment with a GHYC instructor onboard. GHYC Rhodes 19's and Beetle Cats are registered in the Saturday One-Design series and members can reserve a race lesson.
New This Year – Saturday Fun Sail
Saturdays in July, 4:30 - 6:30
This clinic is for novice sailors and racers who want more time on the water. These group lessons are held on board the Rhodes 19 every Saturday in July.
