NANTUCKET RACE WEEK
Nantucket Race Week is an eight-day yachting experience that brings together the entire Nantucket community in a fun-filled week of regattas, awards ceremonies, and terrific parties. The races provide sport for everyone from young dinghy sailors in Optis to grand prix racers at the very top of their profession. The racing begins on Saturday, August 11th with events scheduled daily. On Sunday, August 19th Race Week ends with the 40th Opera House Cup, a Classic wooden boat event that is followed by a final rousing celebration at Jetties Beach. Nantucket Race Week is the perfect way to get to know your fellow GHYC members, Nantucket Yacht Club members and a fabulous group of island residents.
Keep a weather eye for more information in the coming months. Many Great Harbor members are part of the volunteer leadership team and will be looking to plug you into the most exciting week of the summer.
Nantucket Race Week is proud to be named a Gold Level Clean Regatta as certified by Sailors for the Sea. All proceeds benefit Nantucket Community Sailing, a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization.
Saturday, August 11th
- 1:00pm – First Stage of the One Design Series, involving the island's local one-design fleets—Marshall 18's, Rhodes 19's, Indians, Alerions, and Rainbows
- 12:30pm – International One Design (IOD) Series in Nantucket Sound
- 1:00pm – Windsurf and Kiteboard event in the harbor
- 6:00pm – Opening Reception, Dreamland Theatre**
- 11:00am – Day One of the Youth Regatta — Optimists (11:00) and 420's (11:30)
- 1:00pm – Day One of Open Laser and Laser Radials Series, for youths and adults
- 6:00pm – Family BBQ in Celebration of Youth Sailing, Great Harbor Yacht Club**
- 10:00am – Day Two of Open Laser and Laser Radials Series
