Stephen Creese, General Manager

Prior to joining the Great Harbor Yacht Club in May 2010, Stephen held the position of General Manager at the Annapolis Yacht Club. With nearly three decades in the hospitality industry Stephen has a keen interest in fine food and wine. Stephen arrived in Maryland in 1993 to run the famed Inn at Perry Cabin an Orient Express Hotel.
A concerned philanthropist, Stephen has been a member of the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity, the Humane Society, the Cancer Society and numerous other nonprofit, community based organizations in his former home town community of St. Michaels, Maryland.
A native of England, Stephen became a US citizen in 2002. His wife Emily along with their two children Will and Alex have enjoyed being engaged in the Nantucket community.
Selin Bert, Food & Beverage Director

Selin Bert, a native of Istanbul, Turkey, joins our team in March 2014 as Food & Beverage Director. After receiving her culinary training in Paris at the Cordon Blue, Selin began her very successful culinary journey that has taken her across several continents overseas and literally on the seas. She has built a solid reputation on her creative thinking, business acumen and a vision that translates to a positive impact on the operations, financial results, and superior guest satisfaction.
Selin's experience includes serving as the Director of Food & Beverage at the Ciragan Palace Kempinski in Istanbul and the Swissotel Krasny Holmy, in Moscow; both are classed as Leading Hotels of the World. Her most recent position was as the only female Director of Food & Beverage on Celebrity Cruises fleet of eleven vessels.
All of us at Great Harbor are thrilled that Selin will be able to begin working right away and will move on island in March, to be followed shortly thereafter by her husband. Both look forward to joining the year round community of Nantucket.
Sarah Banks, Office Coordinator

Sarah Banks joined the Great Harbor Yacht Club team as Office Coordinator in January 2012. Prior to moving to Nantucket in March 2011, Sarah worked two and a half years for a well-established landscaping company in Dover, Massachusetts as the office manager, with a focus on customer service and accounts payable. Since moving to the island she has gained both restaurant and retail experience by assisting the general manager of a renowned restaurant group, as well as assisting the owner of a long-standing retail boutique with day-to-day operations. Sarah is a graduate of Quinnipiac University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. She works directly with the CFO, Kerry Tilton, and is directly responsible for member billing, accounts payable, staff payroll and general office administration.
Christopher Brooks, Executive Chef

Christopher Brooks, a native of London, England, joins our team as Executive Chef in April 2013. He completed a classical European apprenticeship in one of England's finest Country House Hotels, Chewton Glen a Relais & Chateaux property. He completed a culinary degree at Bournemouth & Poole College in the U.K. From there he continued to work within the world class Relais & Chateaux group of hotels and restaurants before coming to America.
Christopher moved to the states in 1995 to become sous chef at another Relais & Chateaux property, the Hotel Blantyre, in Lenox, Massachusetts. He had the opportunity to travel and work in several other fine hotels such as the Old Drover's Inn in Dover Plains, New York and the Morrison House Hotel in Alexandria, Virginia before his return to Blantyre in 2000 to become the Executive Chef. The Hotel went on to become a Mobil Five Star property in 2003. Christopher attained GRAND CHEF status in 2008, the same year he became a American citizen.
Christopher will be joined by his wife Amy and fourteen year old daughter Emma at the conclusion of the school year and become year-round residents of Nantucket.
Billy Cowzer, Engineering Manager

A native of Dublin, Ireland, joined GHYC in May 2010 and as Engineering Manager oversees the maintenance of the club's facilities. Billy has made Nantucket his home over 20 years ago. A qualified Building Surveyor and General Contractor, he put those skills to use over the years working on various commercial and residential projects here on island. For the past 15 years he has run his own successful Property Management, Caretaking and Construction business. In 2004/2005 he was part of the team that oversaw the construction and development of The Westmoor Club. Billy lives on Nantucket year round with his wife Aisling and daughter Billie Jean. He enjoys golf, squash and fishing.
Corey Gammill, Fishing Director

Corey joined the Great Harbor Yacht Club team in 2009 and oversees GHYC's fishing program, which is focused on educating members of all ages and levels on how, where and when to fish the waters of Nantucket. Corey has long-time fishing ties to Nantucket having worked as a Captain and First Mate in the local fishing charter business for the last thirteen years. He continues to actively guide on top of managing our Fishing Program. In 2005, he became co-owner of Bill Fisher Tackle, Nantucket's oldest fishing tackle shop. Corey is also a certified USCG U.S. Merchant Marine Officer. In the off-season, Corey has held teaching and coaching positions at Avon Old Farms in Avon, CT and now currently teaches at St. Luke's School in New Canaan, CT. Besides teaching Math and Finance, Corey is very involved in coaching. At St. Luke's he coaches The Varsity Soccer, Hockey and Lacrosse teams, while also coaching hockey and lacrosse for the youth programs in town. Corey holds degrees from Acton (MBA) and Colby College (BA).
Carolyn Grant, Sailing & Waterfront Director

Carolyn joined the Great Harbor Yacht Club team in 2006 and oversees the adult and junior sailing programs and all waterfront activities including, kayaking, motor boating and launch service. After graduating from the University of Virginia in Marketing and Communication Studies, she worked in the Meetings and Convention industry for 10 years. In 1998, she took a two-year hiatus to sail around the world. Upon her return she was a J-World Instructor and then the Head Coach of the Hampton University Sailing Team for 6 years.
She's been an active boater and competitive dinghy sailor all her life. She was crew on a successful J29 campaign for 8 years. Logging more than 30,000 offshore miles, she has her USCG 100 Ton Masters License and is also a certified power boat instructor. She continues to sail competitively on her J22 and also on Nantucket's beloved International One Design (IOD) where she is a three-time World Champion crew member. In addition to role at GHYC, she is the head coach for the Nantucket High School Sailing Team.
Carolyn is on the advisory board for Nantucket Community Sailing, a board member of Schooner Virginia, and a Waterfront Committee Member for the City of Hampton, VA.
John Luyrink, Tennis & Swim Director

John Luyrink joined the Great Harbor Yacht Club team in 2007 when the Club acquired the Nantucket Tennis & Swim Club, which was founded by John and his wife Carol in 2002. After graduating from Bates College, John played for two years on the Professional Tennis Circuit in the United States and Europe. He moved to Nantucket in 1992 to become the owner and operator of the Brant Point Racquet Club. In 2002, John and his wife, Carol, founded the Nantucket Tennis & Swim Club. John and his wife live on Nantucket and in Central Massachusetts with their three sons, Jack, Matthew and Benjamin.
Megan Maltby, Member Services Director

Megan joined the Great Harbor Yacht Club team during the early stages in 2004 and became the first employee of GHYC. Like many long time islanders, Megan returned to Nantucket for one last summer after graduating from Syracuse University and has never left. Prior to her employment at GHYC Megan worked at various jobs on the island including the Golden Basket, India House and Wayne Pratt Antiques, which she managed for over a decade.
Megan coordinates all aspects of the membership process and fosters communication between the members and the management team. Megan is also responsible for all print, electronic and marketing materials for the Club. Megan lives on Nantucket with her husband, Andy, and two sons, Curtis and Griffin. The family is very involved with many island organizations including Nantucket Lighthouse School, Nantucket Youth Hockey, Nantucket Youth Lacrosse and the Nantucket Boys and Girls Club.
Kerry E. Tilton, Chief Financial Officer

Kerry E. Tilton, CPA, joined our team as Chief Financial Officer in January 2012. Kerry graduated from Loyola College in Maryland in May 2001 with a Bachelor of Business Administration - Cum Laude, where she was honored to be selected for membership in the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society for schools of business. During her junior year Kerry studied abroad at the Lorenzo de Medici Institute in Florence, Italy and spent significant time traveling throughout Europe. She received her CPA license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in December 2004.
For the past 6 1/2 years, Kerry has been the Controller of The Westmoor Club and has been an integral part of building accounting, billing and payroll related policies and procedures. Prior work experience includes the public accounting firm of Brown & Brown, LLP in Boston, Massachusetts and the corporate accounting department of The Stanley Works, Inc. in New Britain, Connecticut.
Originally from Simsbury, Connecticut, Kerry moved to Nantucket in April of 2005 to accept her previous position at The Westmoor Club. Kerry is a member of Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP) and has grown to truly love working in the club industry. Now on a path to further her knowledge of club finances and continue to be part of the local Nantucket community, Kerry enthusiastically takes on the position of CFO of Great Harbor Yacht Club. Outside of work Kerry likes to spend time with family and friends, and enjoy Nantucket's beautiful beaches. She lives with her husband Fred, a Nantucket native, her son Brady and daughter Lily.
Kirra Lea Wilson, Spa & Fitness Manager

Kirra Lea Wilson joins the Great harbor Yacht Club team as Spa & Fitness Manager as of January 2012. Kirra is a familiar face at the Sports barn at GHYC having taught several of our most popular fitness classes for the last two years. Kirra has been involved in the spa and fitness industry for over six years, working on island at the White Elephant Spa as a massage therapist, as well as teaching fitness classes at The Studio and The Westmoor Club. Kirra holds her degree in Nutritional/Health and Wellness Counseling from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition as well as a BA in English from Eastern Nazarene College. Kirra is a Massachusetts native growing up on the South Shore.
